Hydraseeders deliver advanced erosion control solutions to protect vulnerable ground and support successful vegetation establishment — even on steep or challenging slopes.
Erosion Protection
A critical phase in the establishment of any vegetation occurs between ground surface completion and the beginning of above-surface growth. It is in this period that the risk of erosion is greatest. Among the methods used to protect the surface and to control erosion are mulching, soil amelioration, binders, stabilisers and geo-textiles.
The Hydraseeders geo-textile is a glass fibre matrix or web bonded with bitumen emulsion and acts as both mulch and reinforcement. It is especially effective in protecting the surface against erosion by run off and in locations where other factors are the cause, soil creep for example. Soil ameliorants are useful where substitute soils such as sub-soils or spoils are the growing medium. Special soil ameliorants and conditioners can be specified into any of the Hydraseeders formulas in order to improve the water retention or soil structure.
Netting and Matting
With the recent advancement in the world of erosion control matting, hydraseeding has again shown itself to be an extremely effective way of vegetating a matted slope. Over the years Hydraseeders have worked in conjunction with all the main types of matting and proven that ‘if you can see through it we can seed through it’ and still get a full vegetative cover on the steepest of gradients
Frequently Asked Questions
The period between ground preparation and visible growth is when soil is most vulnerable. Effective erosion control prevents washout, soil creep, and surface instability.
Hydraseeders use geo-textiles, mulches, binders, soil ameliorants, and stabilisers to protect surfaces and promote successful vegetation establishment.
Yes. Hydraseeders work with all major matting systems and can successfully seed through them to achieve full vegetative cover — even on steep slopes.
On poor or substitute soils such as sub-soils or spoil, soil conditioners improve water retention and structure, increasing the chances of successful growth.
Yes. Hydraseeders specialise in establishing vegetation on steep and challenging slopes where traditional methods may not be effective.
